IBM was founded under the name Computing Tabulating Recording Corporation (CTR) after a merger of four companies in Endicott, New York, in 1911. The companies in question were the International Time Recording Company, the Tabulating Machine Company, the Computing Scale Corporation and the Bundy Manufacturing Company. In 1924, CTR was renamed to International Business Machines (IBM).
