Now we need a Head of Finance: Research and Planning to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract to oversee and support the development and enhancement of CRUK's Research and Planning financial strategy, leading on both business partnering of these areas and the group's financial planning and reporting process.

Lead the long term, budget, forecast and 5 year planning processes to support the development of CRUK's strategy and to ensure the robust management of CRUK's reserves.
Build effective working relationships with senior leaders across a number of directorates (Research & Innovation, Policy & Information, Philanthropy & Partnerships, HR, Technology and Corporate Resources) to advise and challenge on strategy and business decisions.
Produce monthly management accounts for the Charity and provide high level analysis/insights. Ensure that Directors & Heads receive financial insight, advice and challenge so that strategies and business decisions take appropriate account of all financial implications
Lead, motivate & develop a team of 19 to deliver their objectives and broader Finance strategy, as well as contributing towards the goals of CRUK and Corporate Resources
You will contribute to functional, development and technical projects that impact on user experience and ways-of-working in both financial and partnered departments.

Demonstrable FP&A decision support success within a complex organisation
Significant experience of building, managing & evolving sometimes challenging business partnering relationships at a senior level, ideally (but not essentially) with a science related function
Proven leadership and management skills with significant experience of managing large and diverse teams and building strong business cases
Ability to interpret complex financial data objectively, delivering clarity and constructive challenge
We are looking for someone to join us in mid May, as this will be just before our current Head goes off on maternity leave. Interviews will be taking place in early March, after first stage telephone conversations with the Talent Acquisition Partner.
