£61,777 - 72,597 pro rata

  • In depth experience at a senior level of NHS Finance
  • Proven track record of successful and sustained financial management
  • Record of significant financial and non-financial achievements at a senior level
  • Significant management experience in previous roles

Job Description - Main purpose

To lead the Strategic Projects finance team to provide financial expertise on a range of complex strategic & commercial projects, & to support these through the Trust approvals process.

To lead the Trust's external reporting & financial planning process, ensuring triangulation with activity, workforce & performance information.

To lead on the development of the financial strategy of the Trust ensuring it is aligned to the Trust's vision & the regulatory regime.

To lead the costing team to deliver key financial information across the Trust, linking in with the transformation team to identify opportunities & support deep-dive reviews.

Leadership:

Deputise for the Deputy DOF/CFO when required

As a member of the finance Senior Leadership Team, contribute to the leadership & development of the department, including supporting delivery of the finance vision & objectives.

Support the team to horizon scan opportunities & threats externally, identify opportunities to implement best-practice.

Strategic Projects:

Lead the Strategic Projects finance team to provide financial expertise. Ensure financial modelling & presentation is consistently to a best-practice standard & meets the organisational needs.

Produce detailed financial modelling & options appraisals to support business cases. Summarise modelling into key messages to support decision-making process. Support business cases through the Trust governance process for approval.

Lead on the post implementation review of projects & business cases.

Job Description

Review & support new innovative models, including Wholly-Owned Subsidiaries.

Lead & provide support to STP & Solent Acute Alliance projects with system partners.

Reporting & Planning:

Be the expert for the Trust on the financial aspects of the Foundation Trust regime acting as advisor to the CFO/Deputy DoF & CEO.

Lead production of the NHS Improvement returns and coordinate all inputs both internal and external to finance.

Lead the Trust-wide planning process, ensuring financial plans are consistent and triangulate with budget-setting, workforce plans, activity plans, performance, capacity and contracted values with Commissioners.

Ensure that the Trust's financial plan is updated regularly, developed and integrated with other strategies. Lead the production of papers to support Board and other Committees approval of financial plans.

Financial Strategy & Commercial Strategy:

Contribute to the development of the financial & commercial strategy & annual plans to support the achievement of the Trust's strategic objectives & vision.

Ensure that strategic financial and commissioning decisions are in line with the financial strategy

Lead on the review of balance sheet and cash positions, including cash scenario modelling for affordability of the Trust's investment programme.

Lead on review and provision of benchmarking information to support business decisions.

Costing:

Lead the costing team to deliver its main objectives

Collaborate with other teams including the transformation team to co-ordinate information from PLICS, Model Hospital, GIRFT and other benchmarking sources to ensure consistency of approach and messaging.

Utilise information from various sources to identify opportunities for financial improvement.
