Baltimore Consulting Ltd are currently working with an NHS Trust based in London with the appointment of a highly experienced Head of Medical Staffing for an initial 3-6 month basis.
The head of Medical Workforce will have a lead role as the Trust's expert in medical staffing, supporting medical leadership, service managers and human resources colleagues.
Main duties will include:
Overall responsibility for MHPS investigations
Responsible for leading the medical workforce service, ensuring that a comprehensive, proactive and effective service is delivered.
Responsible for the development of Trust implementation of new national initiatives in relation to medical staff, taking a long term view and ensuring the Trust has appropriate systems and procedures in place to ensure safe and effective management of the medical workforce. Identify operational issues in relation to the employment of medical staff and work with Directorates to ensure these are addressed effectively at operational and strategic level.
Provide expert advice and support to the Deputy Medical Director and Deputy Director of Workforce on the management and implementation of the Consultant Excellence Based Awards process.
Provide expert advice and support to the Deputy Medical Director and Deputy Director of Workforce in developing and implementing policies and procedures relating to the employment of medical staff.
Ensuring the Trust has robust systems in place to monitor and report appropriately on Doctors in training working arrangements (such as New Deal/EWTD requirements).
Provide expert advice and support with managing locum provision, minimising expenditure where possible.
Provide expert advice and support to the Deputy Medical Director in developing and implementing policies and procedures relating to the productivity of medical staff (such as Job planning and Rota management).
This role requires an experienced senior Medical workforce professional working within the NHS who possesses demonstrable experience of leading on MHPS and medical staffing divisions.
