Our client is an arm's length management organisation set up and owned by Colchester Borough Council to provide housing and property services to the local community.
The role of Chair of the Board represents a rare opportunity for an outstanding leader to impact on the outcomes of their residents, delivering lasting improvements to their local community.
They are seeking a new Chair who can challenge, provide leadership and support to enable them to deliver their vision for the future, in an ever-changing operating environment. Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will set the overall direction, policy and plans.
They are looking for someone with strategic management experience, leadership and vision, and a passion for making a real difference.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Strategic leadership, vision, confidence and presence
- Governance expertise and strong analytical skills
- General business, financial and management experience
- Experience of chairing meetings
- Experience of developing collaborative partnerships across organisations and managing stakeholder relationships
- Evidence of delivering quality services with a strong customer care commitment
- Working as an effective member of a strategic team
- Significant experience at Board level in the public/ private/ voluntary sector
- A good understanding of the housing sector is desirable.
Success in this role will require a Chair who can offer drive, energy and commitment while showcasing an outstanding track record of success at Board level. Regardless of your professional background, you will have the ability to hold the system to account and manage the Board to ensure success in a collective decision-making group, whilst also acting as an ambassador, establishing strong relationships with Colchester Borough Council and wider partners.
Time commitment - is approx. 2-3 days per month. There are 6 Board meetings, an 'away day', each year, together with other related duties, such as staff induction days, as required.
Allowance - £7,000 p.a allowance to be paid in monthly payments (not paid employment). Reasonable expenses, including mileage and childcare, will be reimbursed and regular training opportunities will be offered throughout the year.
