We are IT Recruitment Specialists partnered with a prestigious Global Consultancy who require an Operational Demand Manager for one of their Public sector Clients.

Duration: 6 months contract

Clearance required: Active SC required, will need to have Government Department SC used in the last12 months that can be transferred

Location: Remote

As a Lead Operational Demand Manager, your primary purpose will be to provide prioritisation, visibility and oversight of the demand request pipeline across service systems and teams. This will include the time, effort and resource for new and existing demand, including having an awareness of any cost implications.

You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of interesting and complex projects, developing an understanding of what is happening within these areas of demand.

This role will require you to prioritise, schedule and manage the pipeline of work, liaising with key stakeholders and working closely with a diverse set of partners and decision-makers, for example Portfolio teams, Project Managers, Service Managers, Technical Support Services and partners.

You will have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working within a delivery focused, agile environment with multidisciplinary teams. You will be required to provide support and oversight to other project colleagues across portfolios to support and continuously improve services of significant scale and complexity, whilst also being hands on.

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:
Receiving and proactively identifying demand requests from a variety of sources, assessing the business requirement and the benefit of the work
regularly liaising with the Service Managers and both internal and external Project Managers to understand the work pipeline for their service, project or product
managing stakeholder expectations regarding the delivery of their work items, acting as a single point of contact for any new demand requests and supporting processes so stakeholders can efficiently interact with them
providing oversight and review of the consolidated pipeline of work and the key deliverables within it, including any associated risks
understanding and analysing information in the pipeline and presenting to senior stakeholders to inform decisions and business cases for future projects
estimating resource needs for projects and working closely with Resource Managers to ensure that work items can be resourced appropriately based on the prioritised and scheduled work
You will also be expected to carry out the following day to day activities:
maintaining (or overseeing the maintenance of) a consolidated log of the work pipeline
reviewing and updating the log with all key stakeholders on a regular basis
monitoring the progress of work items currently in flight
preparing for and presenting at governance boards on the demand pipeline
identifying, resolving and escalating conflicts and risks to work items on the log
providing early support for new work items that do not have an owner, either by acting as an interim Project Manager or owning the status and progression of the work (note: more likely on a smaller project)
participating, contributing to and supporting collaboration initiatives and career development within the IT Operations community, building in-house capability via a professional community of practice

Essential skills:
You'll have a demonstrable passion for Demand Management, with the following skills or extensive experience in:
effectively communicating and explaining technical requirements and issues to business stakeholders, and vice versa ie business concepts to technical teams
demonstrating a deep knowledge and understanding of the development lifecycle and the resources required at each stage through delivery experience
ability to understand the types of demand requests raised, the work required and the user benefits
communicating and negotiating effectively to manage both internal stakeholder and external partner expectations, adapting your style when required
supporting live services, change management and release management processes
acting as an advisor within the demand process, influencing prioritisation and resolving conflicts, particularly when there are competing demands

thinking logically and analytically in order to manage priorities consecutively
understanding of Lean, Agile and DevOps principles within a Product-centric delivery model


ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation qualifications
