The programme manager is responsible, for leading and delivering on a strategic knowledge project to store, share and access the businesses knowledge assets more efficiently .

The role requires effective co-ordination of the programme's workstreams and management of the relationships between projects and delivery teams across the business.

The programme has complex IT and business change deliverables. The role will be working closely with the Knowledge Lawyers and change management lead to ensure that the firm is ready to adopt the necessary change in behaviour and processes and realise the programme goals.

The programme manager is responsible for:

  • Planning and designing the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action
  • Defining the programme's governance arrangements
  • Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme
  • Managing the programme's budget on behalf of the sponsor and IT, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses
  • Ensuring the delivery of workstream milestones to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the programme plan and programme governance arrangement
  • Ensuring there is allocation of resources and skills within the programme's individual projects
  • Managing third party vendors (from RFP to acceptance) where appropriate
  • Managing day to day communications and expectations with all stakeholders
  • Managing the dependencies and the interfaces between work streams
  • Managing risks to the programme's successful outcome
  • Working with the change manager and Application owners on the transition to the new business as usual position

Experience Required:

  • Significant experience of designing and delivering innovative programme plans is essential
  • Proven experience of 'hitting the ground running' is essential, including the ability to assess the situation and keep momentum with minimal impact to schedule and team mechanics
  • Experience in knowledge management (legal sector experience is desirable)
  • Experience working with technology platforms including SharePoint and Enterprise Search is desirable
  • Experience in working on complex multi-year/phase programmes
  • Experience of using consulting techniques would be desirable
  • Experience in Service Design and/or Customer Experience is desirable
  • Experience of designing and driving Agile software delivery
  • Recognised project management qualification and accreditation such as APMP, Prince2, MSP, PMBOK or Agile, is desirable
  • Degree level education (ideally a law degree or postgraduate diploma in law) or equivalent
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office
