We may not deal directly with our customers, but we play an absolutely vital role in making sure that our customer-facing teams get all the support they need to deliver the very best service.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you will support the SMCR Manager in the implementation and ongoing operational delivery of the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR) across Bupa and ensure regulatory requirements are satisfied across the whole employee life cycle. You will ensure the SMCR team adhere to SMCR regulations and supporting policies, processes and communications are in place to successfully embed SMCR requirements. You will also act as Subject Matter Expert and provide 'expert' consultancy across the SMCR Team and People Function providing advice and support. They will oversee all Fit and Proper reviews, includin pre-employment and in life checks completed and monitored in the SMCR team.
What's a typical day?
A typical day will require you to proactively manage and deliver the SMCR Team activities required to ensure Bupa UK is compliant with the PRA/FCA Senior Manager & Certification Regime (SMCR). You'll provide SMCR subject matter expertise across all employment lifecycle stages by acting as a central support point for the SMCR and People Team and effectively oversee the background and annual screening process for candidates/ employees to ensure this delivers candidates/employees who are 'Fit and Proper' within the FCA/PRA SMCR regime. You will be required to manage the notification process (where individual's declare an event that could impact on their 'fit and proper' status) involving the SMCR Manager as required to agree whether this requires notification to relevant colleagues e.g. Compliance, Senior Managers, Accountabilities Forum and also maintain industry knowledge of FCA/PRA regulations and make recommendations / take action on any changes impacting Bupa.
Who we're looking for?
- Upskill of the SMCR Advisers to undertake processes required in respect of SMCR
- Implementation of revised Fit and Proper checks for Senior Manager Functions (SMF) and Certified Regime colleagues.
- Operationalisation of the Conduct Rules investigation process.
- Experience of implementation of SMCR policies, processes and regulatory requirements
- Experience of supporting a business in the implementation phase of SMCR
- Experience of the operational delivery of SMCR
- Understanding of relevant employment legislation and the regulatory environment
- Experience of working with FCA/PRA and the impacts on the end to end People policies/processes
- Intermediate written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a matrix structure and build effective relationships with managers/stakeholders
